Return of the Blog Guy
September 23rd, 2009Prepare for an onslaught of new blogs erupting all over your web interface! After a short stint as a member of the Old Navy Supermodelquins squad, I have returned to my true love: blogging.

I spent some time studying with the guru Domo. He taught me about equality.

And then this happened.

All and all, it was one crazy summer.
The Jim Henson Company awards Symbiote Studios the rights to fan-favorites “Fraggle Rock” and “Farscape”
August 8th, 2009Symbiote Studios LLC, a leading manufacturer and distributor of a broad range of statues and high-end collectibles has been awarded the rights to create vinyl toys and polyresin statues based on The Jim Henson Company’s fan-favorites “Fraggle Rock” and “Farscape”. The vinyl toys will be stylized and be presented in the popular Symbiote series. The statues will be limited edition collectibles with the individual number hand written on the base.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to work with The Jim Henson Company.” Said Joseph Reiter, President and CEO of Symbiote Studios. “Fraggle Rock and Farscape are both beloved franchises that we will give our utmost respect and attention.”
Early production of the products has already begun with an estimated release date of Q1 2010.
“Fraggle Rock” premiered 1983 and has garnered multiple awards and a loyal global fan following. The show was created by Jim Henson as an international co-production and was adapted for each territory to meet the needs of its audience. By showing cooperation and conflict resolution among the different inhabitants of the Rock (the Fraggles, the Doozers and the Gorgs), the show taught the concepts of mutual respect and peace. Currently, The Jim Henson Company is in active development on a “Fraggle Rock” feature film.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, “Farscape” follows the adventures of astronaut John Crichton, catapulted across a thousand galaxies and trapped among alien creatures that 20th century sci-fi pop culture never prepared him for. A groundbreaking sci-fi production, Farscape is an international favorite. Named by TV Guide as one of television’s “Best Cult Shows Ever” and by Empire Magazine as one of the “50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time,” the show has continued to find new audiences in syndication and on DVD around the world as well as on iTunes, where it debuted as the top selling sci-fi show.

Star Wars Darth Vader Bookends
July 1st, 2009Today we are happy to announce that we are working on a special project exclusively for the Star Wars Shop. The new project is our Darth Vader Bookends. These bookends will depict Vader’s lightsaber burning through the wall on a ship with metal melting down the front and back of the bookends. The blade of the lightsaber lights up and makes a really cool night light for any room.
The concept is loosely based on the scene in The Phantom Menace when Qui-Gon melts through the doors on a ship. We thought that Vader must have been in a similar situation and it would be cool to depict this as bookends.
When we first started, we drew up some basic concept art showing the basic idea behind the bookends.
We then looked at the original lightsaber used by Vader as reference for our sculpture. Lucas Films was very generous in allowing us multiple looks at the actual weapon used during the films.
Finally, we have begun sculpting and below is a small sneak peek at what you can expect when the statue is finished. We will have more photos as the sculpt progresses.
DIY Vinyl Symbiotes are up for Pre-order
June 30th, 2009All our new designer vinyl and DIY figures will begin shipping July 13th. We have started pre-orders for the DIY ones at http://www.symbiotestudios.com this week and will start orders for the licensed characters next week. Wave 1 of the DIY figures are only 150 pieces each. After that all new ones will be marked with a tiny Wave 2 stamp. We did it this way so collectors can have rare figures, while those who just want a figure without caring for the edition size can get them whenever they want.
Below is our Blue DIY Symbiote. He comes with four changeable hands and two weapons.

House Of Liu vs House of Symbiotes
June 20th, 2009We are big fans of all vinyl toys. One of our favorite is House Of Liu which are cool little figures that look like a cross between a Munny and a Symbiote. A lot of people have asked us if Symbiotes are the same size as the House Of Liu. The answer is no as our Symbiotes are twice as big. Luckily both products are the same price. You can buy the House Of Liu or a Symbiote with extra hands and accessories for only $15. It’s a tough choice and we hope you buy both. If you can only buy one, I believe we offer much more value for the same price.
